Tomi Laaksonen

I work as a senior attendant at the Finnish Matriculation Examination Board. My tasks include access control, customer services, the secretariat’s security matters, transportation, and the executive tasks concerning the examination.

Recently I also started apprenticeship training in audiovisual communication in response to the secretariat’s need for new expertise due to the digitalisation of the matriculation examination system. In the future, my tasks will include the editing and processing of both audio and video materials.

My tasks require an ability to cope with pressure, to be able to prioritise different tasks, and flexibility. One of the things I like most about my job is the fact that every workday is different.

I completed a Specialist Qualification for Security Officers in 2008 and applied for a job at the Matriculation Examination Board soon after. I was asked for a job interview and got the job.

I like the pleasant and relaxed atmosphere at our workplace. I am also motivated by opportunities to learn new things, and it feels great to be a part of the development of the electronic matriculation examination system.
