Assistant Trainee at the Ministry of Finance

I started as Assistant Trainee with the SADe Programme team (Action Programme on eServices and eDemocracy) of the digitalization unit of the public government ICT function (JulkICT) on 10 August 2015. The traineeship period has gone very smoothly, with a lot of work on the SADe Programme. At the end of August I participated in the last two rounds to municipalities of the SADe Programme, with Turku and Vaasa as the destinations. By this, my traineeship got off to a good start and I got a very good view of the different kinds of things an assistant has to take into account when organising visits and events.

In the beginning of September I was given the opportunity to assist at the Municipal Fair (Kuntamarkkinat) on 9–10 September. The rest of the Autumn I was busy with organising the Jubilee Seminar of the SADe Programme, which was held at the Helsinki Music Centre (Musiikkitalo) on 5 November 2015. It was a great experience to be involved in organising such a fine event, and I feel that I really learned at lot of new. Besides this my duties included the organisation of various other events and preparing minutes of meetings.

As a whole I feel that the time at the Ministry of Finance has gone very quickly and I have learned many new things and skills. At first learning new seemed to take a lot of time and energy, but fortunately I soon started to develop more routines for various tasks. It was nice to find out how much you can learn by doing! After my traineeship I will return to Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in the beginning of 2016 to continue with my studies and work on my thesis.

I wish to thank the marvellous SADe Programme team for all their help and encouragement during this autumn!
