Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman

The Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman safeguards the rights and freedoms of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data.

In our work, we raise awareness of the rights, obligations and opportunities related to data protection and promote the development of a single digital market within the EU. We monitor the legality of personal data processing and the realisation of the rights of the data subjects. We collaborate widely with the data protection authorities of other EU countries and various stakeholders.

In addition to the Data Protection Ombudsman and two Deputy Data Protection Ombudsmen, we have about 45 other experts working in our office.  Most of our staff members are lawyers specialised in data protection legislation. Other people working in our office include legal specialists with Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, and experts in IT, data and case management and communications.

We aim to be a pleasant and motivating workplace for the whole staff, attracting the best experts within their field and making them our committed employees. We help people balance their work and private lives by means of flexible working hours. We offer extensive occupational health services and an opportunity to use one working hour a week for exercise. We also support our staff by providing them sports and cultural vouchers as well as meal vouchers and compensation for commuting expenses.
