The Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi actively develops the safety of the transport system, promotes environmentally friendly transport solutions and handles regulatory and monitoring duties for all modes of transport. In the transport sector, Trafi's operations cover the drivers, operators and vehicles of all modes of transport.
Trafi is also an active member of various international transport organisations. Trafi produces high-quality services for citizens and businesses.

• The development of the safety and environmental friendliness of the transport system within its own area of responsibility
• Analysis and utilisation of transport data resources in safety and environmental work
• Preparation of decrees and regulations in Trafi's sector
• Issuing various licences, approvals and other decisions
• Handling the registration and data services for the different modes of transport
• Arranging examinations; vehicle taxation duties
