Laura Halonen

Laura Halonen works as a Senior Planning Officer at the Finnish Immigration Service’s Unit for Electronic Services

– I have a degree in tourism management, and I graduated from Laurea University of Applied Sciences in 2014. I completed my studies in English.

– In my work I plan and develop a chatbot service at the Finnish Immigration Service’s Unit for Electronic Services. My title is Senior Planning Officer, and my work involves chatbot content production, training of artificial intelligence and cooperation with interest groups, among other things. I have taken courses in easy-to-read language to be able to produce as clear instructions as possible for our customers.

– My work requires analytical thinking, social skills, core competence and the ability to understand our customers’ perspectives. It is very important to keep our customers in mind, especially when producing content. I have gained core competence from both decision making and customer service at the Finnish Immigration Service, which has been a great help while planning and writing content.

– I started at the Finnish Immigration Service about three years ago as a Department Secretary at the Asylum Unit. After that I worked as an Assistant Adviser at the Immigration Unit before my current job as a Senior Planning Officer.

– Before my career at the Finnish Immigration Service, I worked in the private sector at the Helsinki Airport. In the public sector, I have had a summer job at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and I have worked as a trainee at the Consulate General of Finland in New York.

– The best thing about working at the Finnish Immigration Service are the opportunities for career advancement and professional growth. Our team is a fairly recent addition to the agency, so we have had the chance to establish our work structures ourselves.
