The National Audit Office of Finland (NAOF)
At the National Audit Office, we ensure that state funds are used cost-effectively and in compliance with Parliament's decisions and the law. We audit the management of central and general government finances. We also monitor fiscal policy and oversee election campaign and political party funding.
We are an independent and professional external auditor of central government finances. Our role and tasks are laid down in the Constitution of Finland. We operate in affiliation with Parliament and report on our work to Parliament.
What kind of competence do we value?
The National Audit Office is an expert organisation with approximately 150 employees. Of our staff, 70 per cent work with audit and monitoring, while 30 per cent work in duties supporting audit activities.
In the shared services supporting audit activities, we have, for example, information management, HR management, communications and financial professionals.
Our audit and monitoring employees usually have a master's degree in economics, social sciences or administrative sciences. Our employees share a broad interest in social issues and general government finances. We value the development of both our staff's competence and our audit activities.
What do we offer as an employer?
The staff’s competence is a key resource for the NAOF. We encourage our employees to maintain their competence and develop themselves professionally. Our employees have the opportunity to, for example, pursue authorizations in public accounting.
We want to take care of our employees’ work capacity and wellbeing. We offer flexible working hours, extensive opportunities for remote working, employer-subsidized meals and comprehensive occupational health care. We also offer an annual opportunity for a sports and culture benefit. The terms and conditions of employment at the NAOF are determined by the Act on Parliamentary Civil Servants.
