Helena Kataja

Helena Kataja works at the Registry in the Office of the Parliamentary Ombudsman. As a team leader, it is her duty to ensure that the Registry works efficiently and develops its operations.

"My main duties are recording, sorting and distributing incoming letters and producing statistics and reports from data in the records book. Customer service, both on the telephone and face to face, is also a part of my working day. My duties additionally include the induction training of new employees of the Registry.

The Office's case and records management project has added new content to my work, and it will continue to do so in the future.

The best thing about my job is that the Office appreciates the role of the Registry. It is the heart of the Office where all matters come in and from where they go out.  The Office of the Ombudsman also gives you a grandstand view to society and people's lives. You come across many types of issues, some of which are upsetting, but you must be able to take a professional approach to them.

I started here as an assistant Filing Clerk in 2000, and before that, I had worked at the Registry of Statistics Finland for 11 years. I was appointed a Filing Clerk in 2005.

I enjoy my job and working in the Office so well that you will find me here till the day I retire!"
